- Know the rules and regulations

You also need to carry certain equipment when you travel to ensure safety in the event of an accident or a breakdown. In most European countries you’re required to have a first aid kit, warning triangle, spare bulbs and your vehicle registration documents. Some countries will require extra equipment. France, for example, also requires you to have a reflective jacket and a fire extinguisher.

Depending on the season, always make sure to book ahead before setting off on your journey. Imagine driving for hours only to find out that the campground you had your eye on is fully booked.
