I spy: a classic
Choose an object that is inside or outside the car. The other players have to ask questions to try to guess which object it is. They can ask about its colour, what letter its name starts with or its location, for example.
Phrases with number plates: non-stop laughter
When the car journey is long, it is common to be stuck in traffic jams, and this game is perfect to lighten up the traffic jams! It is all about making funny phrases with the letters of the number plates around you. For example, with the YLB number plate you can form the sentence “You Love Broccoli”
Word chain: guaranteed fun
The game starts with one player saying a word. If the children are very young, the next player has to say a word that starts with the last letter of the previous word. If the children are older, the next player can say a word that starts with the last syllable of the previous word.
Create a story: imagination at its best
One member of the family starts to tell a story, just one sentence is enough. The others have to continue the story. In this way, a story is created little by little. This game is perfect to boost the imagination, not only of the little ones, but also of the adults!
The alphabet: expanding vocabulary
The first player has to say a word with the letter “a”. The next player has to say a word with the letter “b”, and so on up to the letter “z”. If the children are not very young, you can define a theme before starting to play, for example: animals, cities, names… All the words that are said must belong to that theme, as well as following the alphabetical order. This game is a great way to expand children’s vocabulary.
